Thank you for this beautiful and powerful reflection on the fight response. As a fellow trauma-informed therapist, I felt seen in your language, and reminded of the fierce intelligence behind our defenses. Honoring that protector without letting it run the show is such sacred, nuanced work.

Thank you Dr. Mahaffey, it’s always a pleasure to meet another trauma therapist! I deeply appreciate your comment. 💜

I really wish there was more education in the standard graduate school curriculum around trauma, especially given how incredibly prevalent it is.

Thank you Cara, yes! When we honor the way our parts have tried to care for us, they begin to soften.

Linnea, I love this deep look into the fight response. And I appreciate how you brought it to sacred rage. "When we can recognize this, we begin to see our fight response not as an enemy, but as an ally whose methods need updating." YES!!! Methods that need updating.

I feel that way about sacred rage. It is honoring the "No" and what needs protection, while also not waging war. It is just firmly speaking truth. Not by pushing energy against but transmuting the energy with compassion and love.

🙏💜🙏 The “No” is an important part of self protection as long as it’s used wisely and not rashly. When we love those parts of us that we may have tried to disown, they transform. ✨

This is exactly the way forward. Honoring the fight response instead of fighting against it is how real healing begins. Thanks for showing a path that’s compassionate, practical, and actually leads to connection instead of more isolation.

This was an amazing read! Thank you for your expertise and your dedication to the work you do! I am grateful that I actually opened my email and read this, normally I don't read any of my emails ☺️ this essay definitely resonated with me (which is why I'm sure my intuition lead me to open it? If that's the way it works). I've been having some tought times for the past couple years and I feel it has answered a lot of my questions as to why I'm acting certain ways, why certain things keep happening, and the reasonings too which I believe to be the cause of it now. Thank you again. I'm looking forward to reading more of your work 😁

Thank you Jade, I am glad it resonated with you! 🙏 I do believe that intuition leads us along the path that is meant for us but sometimes it can be hard to hear it. I hope that beginning to view your parts as attempts at protection is helpful. These are difficult times to be sure and I'm sorry to hear that you are bearing burdens that are heavy. There is a parts guide book coming out soon that may also be helpful for you. I am grateful for your time, your attention, and support of the work. 💜✨🌿
